On the surface social media might look easy but just coz you’re an expert at scrolling social doesn’t mean you’re a social media expert. If sorting out your social media strategy was on your list for the year (honestly, same), here are a few tips on putting one together.

Ask Yourself Why You’re Doing This
Before you go film a whole TikTok video, ask yourself:
- Do I want clients?
- Do I want authority in my niche?
- Do I want traffic to my website?
- Do I want to sell a product or service?
- Do I just want to build a personal brand?
If you don’t know the goal, you’re going to be creating random content just for vibes and that does a whole lot of nothing.
Choose Your Content Pillars
These are the things you always talk about whether it’s reviews of the latest bestseller or behind the scene secrets of your business. If a post can’t fit into one of your pillars, it doesn’t go live.
Pick Your Platforms
You don’t need to be everywhere but you DO need to be where your audience is. Pick the platforms where your audience are and make sure it’s a platform you’re comfortable creating content. For example, posts on LinkedIn vs Instagram Reels or YouTube videos. Each demands a different type of content and a different style.
Use Templates
Creating content from scratch each and every time is exhausting. Use templates to make your life easier. Maybe there’s a carousel style you like or a graphic format you reuse for a certain pillar. Do it.
Be Consistent
Social media rewards consistency, so choose a posting frequency you can actually maintain.
Batch your posts when you can and keep a running idea bank in your phone notes app.
